The Fight Against Parkinson’s Disease

In March of 2019, a donation of $5,000 was given to Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, Department of Psychiatry, in support of research by Dr. Gregory Pontone into the neural pathways affected by Parkinson’s disease.  The donation provided seed funding in support of fMRI imaging in support of a formal grant application to the National Institute of Health.

Gregory Pontone, M.D., M.H.S. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Pontone focuses on diagnosing and treating the neuropsychiatric aspects of Parkinson’s disease and related disorders. His research focuses on the interaction between neuropsychiatric symptoms such as cognitive impairment, anxiety, and depression and motor impairment in Parkinson’s disease.
